Hello EVC members! Anyone else feel like they're drowning a little bit at this point in the semester? Hang in there, only 17 days until Fall Break (but who's counting?). We have a lot of great things coming up for EVC so let's jump straight to it.

EVC InnovateBrew: Entrepreneurship in Mobile Applications (Member Spotlight: Rachel Jaffe)
Friday 10/7 2:30-3:30pm - THIS FRIDAY
Wiley - W0770
In additional to our usual coffee and entrepreneurial conversation this Friday, we are excited to host member Rachel Jaffe, current UM School of Information grad student and founder of the start-up Adjacent. Adjacent is a mobile application that helps you discover and connect to potential co-founders, mentors, and supporters right around you. Adjacent won 3rd place at SxSW, and received the Ashley Adams Innovation Award and a JumpStart grant. Rachel was featured as a 2016 Wolverine Woman to Watch by InnovateBlue. Rachel is also looking for students to join her team (as mentioned on EVC's Slack #recruiting channel).
We will begin the session with an introduction by Rachel, where she’ll talk about Adjacent and field any questions (approximately 15-30 minutes in length). Following this, we will break off into informal entrepreneurial conversation and ideation. This will be a great opportunity to hear what a fellow student is doing in the start-up space (and some of her challenges along the way) and reflect on launching your own venture while in school. RSVP here (so we order enough coffee!).
October EVC General Body Meeting: Featuring Venture Capitalist Jason Townsend
Tuesday 10/11, 5:30-6:30pm
Ross - R2210
Next Tuesday we will gather for the October General Body Meeting. We'll cover some member business, announce our new board members, and jump quickly to our guest speaker. Back by popular demand, Jason Townsend, Founder and Managing Director of VC firm Resonant Partners, will be joining us. Jason is a Ross MBA 2010 and former Managing Director of the Wolverine Venture Fund. When we asked for his bio, Jason told us, "One of two guys stupid enough to try and raise a venture fund immediately after graduating Ross." Last year, the EVC meeting where Jason spoke went over by an hour because so many people had questions for him. Jason is an engaging speaker and has incredible lessons to share about venture capital and his personal real estate investments. You don't want to miss this meeting, even if you're not planning on going into VC! Learn more and RSVP here (so we order enough food!).
