what does dIR do?

We engage

We engage with the City of Detroit through a variety of different events. Our theme for this academic year is See Detroit, Grow Detroit, Live Detroit.

See Detroit- Bring Ross students to the city and show them the beauty and history of our great city with events (bar crawls, museum tours, etc.)

Grow Detroit- Use the knowledge and resources of UofM to give back to the city through partnerships with non-profits, and more.

Live Detroit- Showcase the array of housing, social, and career opportunities in the city of Detroit, in an effort to attract UofM students to live in the city after their time at Ross.

We Impact

We strive for impact by contributing to Detroit organizations through student-run consulting projects, and motivating UofM students to choose Detroit to participate in the revitalization of Detroit's economy. DIR engages students with the important issues shaping the city's future.

We mentor

We mentor Detroit area students by building relationships between our UofM student volunteers and and high school aged students. We provide advice, guidance, and experience. Finally, we use business skills learned in class to continue our mentor-mentee relationships beyond the classroom.
