Description

Based on student feedback, the MBA Council, BBA Council, and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion have come together to develop a Business + Dialogue Series. The purpose of this series is to create a space for Ross faculty, staff, and students to engage in and normalize conversations related to identity, culture, and current issues.

The topic of our first dialogue is:
Deconstructing Free Speech and Inclusivity

Last week, President Schlissel and the Regents announced that the university will consider renting space to Richard Spencer, but that the event would not take place if we cannot assure a safe setting. This has raised many questions and concerns regarding the intersection of free speech, safety and public education. During this session, we invite our Ross community to engage in conversations around free speech as it relates to controversial speakers on campus like Charles Murray or Richard Spencer and more broadly to challenges in the business world.

Date: Friday, December 8
Time: 1:00 - 2:30pm
Location: R0320
RSVP: Please RSVP by Thursday, December 7 @ 5pm
(lunch provided)

We encourage you to read the FAQ regarding the Spencer decision that is available on the University webpage developed to provide information around these issues:
http://publicaffairs.vpcomm.umich.edu/free-speech-and-speakers-on-campus/faq-regarding-richard-spencers-request-to-rent-space-at-u-m/

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!

Grace Nasr, BBA Council President
Daryl Brown, FTMBA Council President
