Detroit R&B Virtual Impact Conference: 2020 What Did We Learn and How Do We Move Forward?

The theme of this year's conference is "2020 What Did We Learn and How Do We Move Forward?" This theme seeks to highlight lessons learned and Detroit's resilience during a time of extreme uncertainty and how industry leaders continued to move Detroit forward amidst the COVID 19 global pandemic and racial awakening. The narrative arc of the conference will connect the highs and lows of Detroit's history and the past year with aspirations for the building the future of the city. We will explore how different industries have been impacted and innovated (established and emerging) and at different levels of scale and space (from large corporate expansions to small business driven revitalization of neighborhood main streets). Across these conversations, attendees will be encouraged to consider the interaction of historical, economic, and policy contexts. Through this theme, the conference seeks to: 1) provide a forum to highlight the impacts and learnings from the pandemic unique to Detroit, 2) discuss industries and leaders' role within the social justice movement and 3) inspire students to be thoughtful, considerate citizens and contributors as they engage with the city.
