The University of Michigan’s Energy Club at Ross proudly presents the 8th Annual Ross Energy Conference. The Ross Energy Conference is the University of Michigan’s premier annual energy event, connecting experts from across the industry with students across disciplines to foster engagement on the biggest opportunities and challenges in this space. The conference has been specifically designed to facilitate collaboration between students, speakers, and sponsors through panel discussions and networking sessions that promote collaboration and learning. The Energy Conference will take place at the Ross School of Business on Friday, September 27, 2019 in the Tauber Colloquium (formerly Ross Colloquium).

This year, the conference’s theme is ‘Driving the Energy Transition: Organizations taking energy into their own hands.’ As energy supply continues to become more decentralized, we are seeing a trend of public and private institutions and individuals procuring their own energy. This takes many forms, including but not limited to PPAs, green tariffs, REC procurement, or on-site generation. Some organizations view this transition to decentralized energy as a means of minimizing risk, others as a way to improve their sustainability performance, and others as a cost savings mechanism. The improvement in the economics of renewable energy sources like wind and solar are paving the way for organizations to bring energy into their own hands. This year’s conference seeks to explore this trend and uncover how it is transforming the future energy landscape.
