I lived my whole life in north central Kansas until last August when I relocated to Ann Arbor with my fiancé, Kellan Arpke (MBA 2). I am a high school English teacher and currently teach online. In my last job, I was the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations at a private university in Kansas. I spent a great deal of time communicating with people in a variety of ways and planning and executing events. I know what it’s like to plan for events both in person and remotely, thanks to COVID! I spent the first six months of the school year between Ann Arbor and Kansas, so I also know what it’s like to be a partner at a distance as well as a partner who lives in AA. I am passionate about making partners feel a part of the Ross experience and supporting the partnerships behind the students. In my off-time, I like to sing (you can find me singing nearly anywhere, including down the aisles of Meijer), hike, do crossword puzzles with Kellan, and eat great food.
I am originally from Wyoming, but have lived in Ann Arbor for the past 2 years with my husband, Jake (Erb Class of '22). In my current role as the Student Life Program Coordinator for the MBA Program Office, I work with the 65+ MBA clubs at Ross. I am excited to use my knowledge and experience to continue building PCAR's relationship with other clubs at Ross and UM, and to help connect partners with the many professional, social, and educational opportunities that exist in the Ross community. I enjoy spending my free time backpacking and cycling with Jake and friends, and am always up for grabbing a coffee or brunch at one of the many delicious coffee shops/restaurants in and around Ann Arbor and Detroit!
Hi ! My name is Rachita and my husband Ipsit Pradhan is an MBA1 . Before moving to the beautiful town of Ann Arbor from India , I was working with a post-production company as a Project Coordinator. I am passionate about reading fiction , watching critically acclaimed movies/series , taking long walks , doing yoga (at times) and have recently taken up Oshibana (creating art using pressed flowers and leaves). I am a true believer of the saying, 'food brings everyone together' . I am very happy to be a part of the PCAR board as the VP of International Partners Engagement. I wish to help the current/prospective partners in making the difficult transition from their respective home countries to Ann Arbor. With the help of our experiences, support from the international center and fellow PCAR board members , we aim at creating a warm and welcoming experience for the partners and their little ones.
My name is Carolina de la Cerda and I moved to Ann Arbor with my husband Felipe Postigo (Class of 2023), I am originally from the coast of Chile, I studied Social Work in undergrad, and I developed my career in Wellness and Quality of Life in different industries: government, construction, and pharmaceutical.I love being part of clubs that promote inclusion and the active participation of its members. I am overly excited to be part of PCAR and its board, I will put all my effort to give support to partners in their process of living in Ann Arbor and make it my goal for everyone to have a good time and feel welcome in Ann Arbor. I enjoy dancing, cooking (and mostly eating), and enjoy my leisure time with my friends. I know firsthand how hard it is to move to a foreign country while leaving everything you know behind and not knowing the language, that is why I applied for this position: to help everyone in the same situation feel like they will have a friend by their side to count on and develop their goals with.
I'm originally from Iowa but have lived in Los Angeles for the past four years. I studied Finance at the University of Iowa and I'm currently a Director of Finance at OptumCare California. When I'm not working you'll find me at the gym, on the ski slopes or bagging my next 14er. Fun fact: Ann Arbor will be the sixth city and fifth state I've lived in since graduating college in 2012.
I’m Rachel Juba and I’m joining the University of Michigan community with my partner Collin Juba (Class of 2023). We are both from Virginia and graduated as Hokies from Virginia Tech. We’ve been living in Redondo Beach, CA exploring the West Coast for the last five years. I’m excited to live in a big college town again, though it will be a huge adjustment getting used to cold weather and snow. I work as a financial analyst for a company located in California and fortunately get to keep my job while working remotely in Michigan. In my free time, I love to be outdoors hiking, biking, skiing, playing tennis, or even recently trying to hit golf balls. I’m really looking forward to exploring the Ann Arbor area and connecting with other people who are new to the area!
Hello! My name is Ashley Garver and I am very excited to be on the PCAR Board this year as the VP of Family Planning! My husband Bryce will be an MBA2 this year. We were both born and raised in Kansas but have loved living in Ann Arbor this past year with our (very active) almost two year old son Grayson! A little bit about me, I have previously worked in the corporate accounting world but am currently transitioning career paths to work in education. I believe that ice cream should be its own food group (Wolverine Tracks from Blank Slate all the way - no changing my mind), I am a big fan of sitcoms and I love to dance - I have danced since the age of 3 and currently coach a high school dance team in Ann Arbor! I am looking forward to connecting with more of the PCAR community and working to organize events for the Ross Class of 2048!
Hey! I’m Camila Carvalho and am joining the U of M community with my partner Andre Zamboni (Class of 2023). I’m originally from Brazil and have lived in São Paulo for the past four years. Being a Journalist with over ten years experience with Public Relations, Content Writing and Communications Strategy, I’m passionate about communications and the power it has to connect us to other cultures. This is what I’m looking for in Ann Arbor. It’s my first time living in a big college town and I’m excited about meeting people from all over the world and having the best experience I can (and I’m sure PCAR will be crucial for that). Besides, I love soccer and I’m a huge fan of Atletico Mineiro. I’m always up for a pick up soccer too! I love watching sports, drinking beer, being outdoors (especially when it’s a beautiful sunny day), grabbing a coffee or having a good long breakfast.
From Charleston, SC, I am the proud mama to two little girls, Everett (4) and Addie (2), and happily married to Curtis, an MBA2. A former middle school English teacher for 10 years, I have taught everywhere from New York City to rural Louisiana. Currently as a stay-at-home mom, I am always looking for a fun new park and playdate! I love books, the ocean, the beach, and the outdoors. Coming from the South where it is HOT 10 months out of the year, we have really loved the beautiful, distinct seasons in Ann Arbor and have made the best friends this past year despite this crazy pandemic. My family and I cannot wait to make more wonderful Ross friends. You can find me and my girls (and Curtis when he is free) at the park at Woodbury, scootering on the tennis courts, and looking for a new adventure in Ann Arbor. Because it really has been an adventure filled with lifelong friends!
Originally from Alabama, I moved to Ann Arbor with my husband after several years in Charlotte, North Carolina. While Preston pursues his MBA, I will be working with Ross's Office of Action-Based Learning. Before moving to the Midwest, I had an interior design background and loved creating beautiful spaces - a skill I think transfers well when planning events for PCAR! Outside of work, I love a fresh cocktail, being outside with our dog, Chico, oil painting, and the beach...so needless to say, a Michigan winter will be quite an adjustment for this Southerner! Ignorance is bliss, right?!
Born and raised in New York, I moved to Ann Arbor with my fiancé, Aidan (class of 2023). I spent the last five years in fundraising for nonprofit organizations and decided to make a career change when I made the move to AA. I am now working as a recruiter for software engineers within the FinTech space. I am excited to use my events background to help build and foster the PCAR community! Outside of work, I enjoy checking out the delicious food scene that Ann Arbor has to offer.
