WAITLIST NOTES

  • We are at full capacity for the trip

  • You CANNOT participate in the housing rounds unless everyone in your house has purchased a ticket. If you have an incomplete house and you apply, you will be bumped to subsequent rounds

  • Do not price gouge your classmates! We would appreciate if all tickets are resold at face value

FINAL HOUSING ROUND Q&A:

  • How will you know my partner has paid for the trip?

    • This information must be included in the housing form filled out by your HOUSE CAPTAIN!

  • Does my partner count as a member of my program/year?

    • YES, they do (house with 50% MBA2s and 50% partners of MBA2s = House with 100% MBA2s)

  • I am a part-time, weekend, executive, global MBA, when do I apply for housing rounds?

    • Similar to last year, houses with >50% non-full-time MBAs will apply for housing in ROUND 3

  • I’m a dual degree, what class (1 vs 2) do I count as?

    • Use your own judgement here, our rule of thumb is if you have completed most of the core, you are an MBA2. If you have not completed most of the core, you are an MBA1

Overview

What is “the Boyne trip”? It’s a weekend full of skiing (and boarding, brah) and fun with 650+ of your closest Ross MBA friends and partners at the Boyne Highlands Ski Resort! Not a skier or boarder? No problem. Aside from hitting the slopes, you can take lessons, spend all day in the hot tub, go tubing, or nap (because let’s be honest you need one). Extra incentives include staying in a condo with all of your friends, jammin out to the sweet melodies of Risky Business, and eating copious amounts of late night Annie’s Mac N Cheese. We don’t want to overhype it, but Boyne is basically the MAP of Winter A...but no grades...or clients...or travel to Iowa...actually, it’s way better than MAP so sign-up and start picking out your animal onesie.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in the fee?
Lodging on Friday and Saturday nights
Lift tickets for Friday night (4:30pm - 9:00pm)-- it may be cold, but night skiing is cool, and Saturday (9:00am - 9:00pm)
Risky Business <3
We don’t do enough theme parties but you’ll get your fill this weekend + a bar tab
Free SWAG, aka a fire Boyne shirt

What is not included in the fee?
Transportation to Boyne Highlands, meals/food, and ski/snowboard rentals are not included.

What if I don’t know how to ski or snowboard? Should I come?
UH DUR. Regardless of your skiing or snowboarding ability, Boyne is just a lot of fun. Plus, Boyne is more of a large hill than a mountain, so it’s a very “friendly” ski resort for beginners. Essentially, this is the perfect opportunity for you to give skiing or snowboarding a try and if you hate it, you can spend time doing one of the many other activities instead.

Can I just pay for lodging and the parties if I really don’t want to ski/snowboard?
No. Unfortunately, the ticket price is all-inclusive and non-negotiable. (Plus, it’s already a really good deal and spending the money to go to Boyne will buy you friends.) Sorry!

Can I just come and get my own housing and buy my own lift ticket?
Sure, but you won’t be able to have any fun. You will not be able to get into the parties on Friday and Saturday nights without a wristband, and the only way to get a wristband is to sign up through Ski & Snowboard. We’ve tried to make this experience as affordable as possible for everyone, so trust us!

Can partners come?
Of course! Most likely your friends like them better than you anyways! However, house captains must be a Ross MBA.

What will I need to provide when I apply for my house?
House captains will need to provide, for each house member:
-- Name (as per photo ID to be used at Boyne check in)
-- Uniqname (or email address, in case of partners)

I want my house to be next to my friends’ house, can you do that?
No promises, but we can try. There’s a field on the housing application to indicate if you want to be near another house, but this is absolutely NOT guaranteed. We’ll give it a shot, though.

What if I pay, but you can’t accommodate me or my housemates?
In the unlikely event we run out of available house capacity, we will refund your payment in full. However, we were able to accommodate 700 people last year, so this is highly unlikely.

What happens if I can no longer attend, after I pay in full? Can you refund me?
Your payment is NON-REFUNDABLE (except in the case we run out of capacity). If you decide you no longer want to attend, you will have the opportunity to sell your ticket to a classmate. All ticket exchanges must be approved by the Ski & Snowboard, because each individual MUST sign a waiver and will be individually registered with Boyne Highlands Resort. (You should also clear any resales with your housemates.) You CANNOT resell your ticket outside of this process. More details will be released in early January.

How far away is Boyne Highlands Resort? And how do we get there?
About a 4-hour drive unless there is a massive snow storm like last year. Plan to carpool with a friend who has a car and whose company you genuinely enjoy. If they talk too much, enjoy show tunes, and don’t like snacks, we advise riding with someone else. If you don’t know anyone with a car, we will send out a carpool form in January.

We are also looking into booking a bus for those students who cannot rent a car or do not have access to one in any way. Details are TBD and no promises, but we are trying!

Is there a difference between Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain?
Yes! These are two different ski resorts. Boyne Highlands is where our trip will be!

Can I rent skis/snowboards?
Yes -- they are available at Boyne Highlands. Check the website for downhill rentals and cross-country rentals if interested. They know we’re coming en masse, so don’t stress too much that they’ll run out before you arrive.

When will I know that my housing is confirmed?
We will notify you prior to the start of the subsequent round if your house was confirmed. For Round 5 applicants, we’ll email you by Monday, Dec. 10.

What are the party themes?
Wouldn’t you like to know...

What if I still have questions?
