So let's honor this day at Ross!
ROSS-WIDE MLK VOLUNTEER DAY
Monday, Jan 15th
10am-11:30am (optional): MLK Symposium Keynote Watch Party in Robertson Auditorium
12-2pm (pop by at any time): Assemble lunch bags + toiletry kits in Robertson Lobby
*Light breakfast + lunch will be provided on first-come, first-serve basis
We've partnered with Food Gatherers (an Ann Arbor-based food rescue and food bank program), The Education Project for Homeless Youth (a collaboration between Ozone House and Washtenaw Intermediate School District), and Ronald McDonald House Charities (a "home away from home" for families of children with serious illness or injury) to assemble lunch bags and toiletry kits on MLK Day. So come by to watch the MLK Keynote Hill Harper and then stick around to assemble a few kits. Supplies will be provided so just bring yourself and some friends!
OTHER WAYS TO ENGAGE THROUGHOUT WINTER A
We recognize that there are many ways to celebrate Dr. King's legacy and we encourage you to act in a way that most resonates with you. We’ve curated the following options as suggested ways for the Ross community to honor the day:
- SERVE with your SECTION, DEPT, CLUB, or FRIENDS: Want to get out into the community? See here for a list of local volunteer opportunities throughout the winter term. Need help coordinating? Feel free to reach out to Service Corps Alumni for additional support.
- LEARN through U-M's MLK SYMPOSIUM: U-M's MLK Symposium is one of the largest celebrations of the life and legacy of MLK sponsored by a university. Attend one of the many amazing MLK Day events hosted by the university. See here for a full list. After attending an event, engage on social media using the hashtag #UMichMLK
