general management conference 2020

About

The General Management Conference represents the largest annual opportunity for Ross students interested in leadership to engage with industry veterans and to learn how to prepare for successful careers.

The GM conference allows the club to adequately support both educational and recruitment related aspects of students’ life. This year, in accordance with Ross School’s guidelines for on-campus club and recruitment activities, the conference was held virtually. Even though the event format had changed, just like in the past years, we were committed to providing an opportunity for Ross MBA students to learn about careers in leadership through interactions with alums and company leaders at the conference.

The theme for this year’s conference was “Seizing opportunities in a VUCA world.” This year, we had observed leaders, organizations and communities step up in light of the health, social, cultural, and economic challenges faced by our society. As aspiring leaders, our club members are interested in learning the key skills to develop and mindsets to cultivate to thrive in challenging business environments. The keynote speech and panel discussion provided a platform for firms to share how their leadership countered these challenges and engaged with stakeholders.

We also hosted a career fair and coffee chats to further facilitate individualized interactions between company delegates and the students. This provided employers an opportunity to meet our new class of 2022 MBA students and gain insights into their interests and aspirations. We also collated and shared a resume book of participating students with the sponsors to help them further learn about students' experiences.

Please reach out to our corporate relations team with requests for any additional sessions in 2020.

Sincerely,

Aditya Arekar (VP-Conference) and the GMC team
