Consumers Energy is a public utility that provides natural gas and electricity to more than 6 million of Michigan's 10 million residents. It serves customers in all 68 of the state’s Lower Peninsula counties. It is a division of CMS Energy.

Project description: Utilities face a growing challenge as new sources of generating energy and new means for distributing it threaten to forever alter the energy landscape in the United States. Consumers sought to understand these new trends and uncover market opportunities that they presented. Students were tasked with driving energy innovation and reporting recommendations directly to key staff responsible for executing on these projects.

We have more than 25 years of expertise in the renewable industry, and a portfolio of over 5.9 gigawatts of developed projects and 2.8 gigawatts of installed capacity. We specialize in wind and solar photovoltaic with presence in other segments of the renewable energy market: biogas, biomass, hydro, marine energy, and storage solutions.

Project description: As energy storage costs continue to decline and regulatory changes such as California’s energy storage mandate come online, storage is a burgeoning opportunity in the energy space. EDF sought to understand how it could increase its share of this market and what segments (commercial, utility, etc.) it should prioritize.



Sahasra Rwanda was set up as a trading company by Sahasra India which is among the leading companies in energy saving LED lights in India. Sahasra India has three units in Noida, India making different components, covering entire production cycle of LED lighting systems over a decade with a sales revenue exceeding $15.0 Mill. Sahasra India exports its products to highly developed markets of USA & Europe.

Project description: In preparation for the opening of its manufacturing facility in Rwanda, Sahasra Electronics wanted to better understand its LED market potential in both Rwanda and the surrounding East African Community countries. The team assessed relevant business model and distribution partners in Rwanda, as well as made recommendations for next countries to target following a successful roll-out in Rwanda.
