About the Position
The Wharton Impact Investment role provides extensive direct, personal exposure and networking in the impact investment field with large financial institutions, thought leaders, foundations, private equity investors, advisors government officials, university faculty and others. The Director will be primarily responsible for managing four primary projects, outlined below: 2014 MIINT Program. MIINT is the MBA Impact Investing Network & Training. Co-produced by Bridges Ventures and the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, MIINT annually trains a network of student-led MBA Impact-Investing funds in an impact investing tournament with leading VC professionals. Working with WSII staff, the Director will co-manage and execute the program throughout the academic year, including the March tournament held here at Wharton. Wharton Social Venture Fund. The Director will support this student-led impact investing angel fund. Though a network of angel investors connected to Wharton, the WSVF sources and invests in early-stage impact companies. The Director will focus on supporting WSVF by helping them to improve tools and training for students, as well as developing an angel investment fund. Wharton Investment Gathering. The Director will work with WSII staff to manage the development of the theme and structure for this high-profile convening of prominent thought leaders in the space. Social Impact in the Wharton Business Plan Competition. This year, the first ever Social Impact Prize will be given as part of the Wharton Business Plan Competition, a competition among Wharton and Penn students featuring prominent investor judges and substantial cash awards. Exceptional capability to solve problems in a collaborative, team-oriented setting. Intellectual curiosity; the drive to examine the root cause of business issues versus symptoms only. Exceptional Excel skills (including modeling and macros). Strong presentation and PowerPoint skills; able to convey technical subject matter with ease and impact to non-technical audiences. Strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative), financial modeling, and presentation skills. Experience with business process redesign, strategic, and operational assessments is preferred.
