Fellowship and Youth Engagement Program Director, Peace First
About the Organization
Peace First teaches young people the critical skills of peacemaking. We believe in young people and view them as natural problem-solvers and creative thinkers. Through Peace First’s curriculum, schools see a 60% reduction in incidences of violence, 50% fewer weapons being brought to school and a 70-80% increase in instances of peacemaking - children breaking up fights, including others, and helping one another. The recently launched Peace First Digital Activity Center presents Peace First’s peacemaking curriculum and activities in a cost-free and easy-to-use digital format to allow educators and parents to customize a search through our extensive programmatic library to meet specific needs. To broaden our reach nationally, Peace First launched the Peace First Prize, a major new campaign in 2013 to identify and recognize young people building more peaceful and just communities all around the country. The Peace First Prize rewards powerful and courageous acts of peacemaking by youth and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Winners will each receive $50,000 and a two year fellowship, providing ongoing mentoring, professional development and a customized curriculum. Our inaugural class of Fellows will be announced in fall of 2013, and our second Prize cycle will launch in 2014. Read more
